Bluemont’s Old Post Office Being Refurbished
Workmen. Trucks. Mega dumpsters. What is going on at the corner of Railroad Street and Snickersville Turnpike?
Bluemont resident Jamie Hogan, who last year purchased the property across the turnpike from the new U.S. Post Office from Bob Hoffman, is now engaged in fixing up the white building that once housed the Bluemont post office. “The entire structure of the old post office was unstable,” says Jamie Hogan. “So we redid the foundation and flooring. Next, we are in the process of redoing the exterior. We will be replacing the windows, painting the roof, and fixing the siding pieces that are missing and broken.” Having stabilized the building, the Hogans remain somewhat unsure as to what to do with it, and so may leave the inside unfinished for now. “If you know anybody who is looking for a small office or studio… I’d be happy to talk to them,” Jamie Hogan comments.
